Ender Key: The Mysterious Item That Unlocks a Fourth Dimension

For years, Minecraft players have speculated about the existence of a hidden dimension beyond the Nether, End, and Overworld. Now, fragments of forgotten code point toward a removed item once known as the Ender Key—a tool allegedly designed to open an unfinished portal in pre-release builds of version 1.13.

According to early testers, the Ender Key was never meant to be seen by players. It was used internally to unlock a dimension called the "Void Beyond", a realm with zero light, infinite vertical space, and floating strongholds filled with corrupted loot.

What Is the Ender Key?

This custom item cannot be crafted or found naturally. When used near an End Portal frame with one eye missing, the Ender Key causes the frame to flash purple and open a new portal type—different from the traditional End portal animation.

When entered, the player is sent to a glitched world where:

  • Gravity constantly shifts

  • Mobs spawn with random effects

  • Structures float and regenerate

  • Ender crystals behave unpredictably

  • Time freezes randomly

Some versions of the key even cause screen flickering and audio distortions. Mojang reportedly removed it after it caused data corruption during map transfers.

What Players Say Happens in the Void Beyond

  • You can find “ghost” versions of existing mobs

  • You spawn with no inventory, even in Creative

  • All light sources are disabled

  • Coordinates loop beyond Y: 500

  • The skybox shows strange purple eyes

Players who have allegedly accessed it say it’s the most unstable place in Minecraft.

How to Get the Ender Key
